A Veterans Day Recognition to Remember

By Netsmart

This Veterans Day, Netsmart and three associates who served our nation— Senior Manager, Plexus Cloud, Paul Santulli; Talent Acquisition Manager Gary Brown; and Technical Project Manager Hosting–Infrastructure Kyle Kesler—will virtually accept the 2020 Corporate Guardian Award from St. Michael’s Veterans Center (SMVC). Annually, individuals, organizations and companies across the Kansas City metro are recognized for their efforts to improve the lives of veterans in the community.

This past July, these three associates spent their EveryDayMatters (EDM) hours giving back to SMVC. From transporting food from Harvesters to moving furniture and tending the onsite community garden, it was a day well-spent giving back.

“St. Michael’s provides an invaluable service to our veteran community in the Kansas City area. It’s so important to recognize and give back to those who have given and sacrificed for this country,” shared Brown. “What I truly enjoy is the opportunity to learn from those who have overcome so much. They are an inspiration.”

Kessler expounded on the experience, stating “I personally enjoyed the camaraderie, the team building and helping an agency that is trying to do as much as they can with very few resources. Netsmart is commended for allowing associates to take the time to help others. Only 3% of our population served this nation and society often forgets about them. Our small gesture hopefully shows that someone remembers and honors them and their service.”

As an employer who not only actively recruits veterans, but also develops solutions and services that impact veterans’ healthcare journey, this award is very meaningful. We’re grateful to our associates who carry out our cause connected mission by supporting communal causes that are dearest to them.
