OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Sept. 24, 2019Netsmart announced the appointment of Dennis Jakubowicz to the role of vice president and general manager of its senior living business unit. Netsmart is a leading health information technology partner for behavioral health, home care, post-acute and social services organizations.

This leadership role will guide the vision for the company’s path in the senior living space through strategic business development and management. As vice president, Jakubowicz will be responsible for cultivating meaningful client relationships and empowering providers to experience the advantages of the industry’s only unified electronic health record (EHR) platform that crosses all post-acute care settings, including skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, home care, hospice, continuing care retirement communities and life plan communities. Understanding the needs of the market through these relationships will further enhance solution and service offerings that enable post-acute care providers to quickly and efficiently manage the unique needs of a broad range of care settings.

“I have admired the Netsmart reputation within the senior living industry as they have raised the high-water mark for innovation in the market,” said Jakubowicz. “It was only last year when technology providers were describing interoperability as the proverbial unicorn, yet now with the influence of Netsmart, we have every major EHR provider beginning to build this capability. The Netsmart presence in the industry has increased the technology capabilities available to providers, and I’m ecstatic about joining the team. Many technology providers in senior living are talking a big talk about what they’re providing, but we’re walking the walk. Netsmart solutions, including the myUnity® platform for senior living, offer the most widely connected solutions across the entire healthcare ecosystem. Being able to contribute to such a positive outlook for senior living, as well as the rest of healthcare, is energizing.”

With more than 30 years of healthcare experience and with a substantial background in both senior living and the pharmacy industry, Jakubowicz brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. He previously served for more than six years as senior vice president at MatrixCare, where he was able to build strategic client relationships. Jakubowicz’s prior roles include leading sales and business development initiatives for various pharmaceutical and pharmacy technology organizations.

“Over the last few years, we’ve made tremendous strides in establishing Netsmart as a leader in the post-acute arena and bringing Dennis’ expertise to the mix is a key component to accelerating that forward trajectory,” said Netsmart Senior Vice President Dawn Iddings. “He has demonstrated success and brings a variety of market insights and influence, and we are looking forward to his contributions to our success today and in the future.”

Jakubowicz holds a bachelor’s degree from Lycoming College. In his free time, he enjoys spending time golfing, traveling, playing sports and volunteering for local organizations in his community.
